After several weekends of traveling, I was so excited to stay home for a whole weekend. We got our first glimpse of fall(ish) temperatures, the Sooners won, our new windows were installed, and we crossed lots of little home improvement projects off of our to-do list.
The Carnivore and I woke at 5 am on Friday morning to rearrange the house. Totally normal. Isn’t that what everyone does at 5 am?! Ok really it was 5:15, we had to down a cup of coffee first. We were having new windows installed at 8:00 a.m., and had to move everything away from the windows. Which actually happens to be EVERY-THING. Beds, couches, dressers, nightstands, desks, side tables, all were nestled right up against the windows. We got it done and I got my workout in before 6am. 😉
New windows make for a happy Cassie. The old windows were the originals – classic 1984 style. We’ve had our new windows a total of 3 days and we can already tell a difference in the temperature of our house. They’re pretty fantastic.
We didn’t set an alarm for Saturday and woke up at 8:00 a.m., it was glorious! After coffee and breakfast I decided it was a great idea to clean since all of our furniture was pushed to the middle of the room. I think The Carnivore would disagree…
I vacuumed under furniture, washed the baseboards, dusted all sides of the furniture, washed curtains, cleaned blinds, I feel like I shed 20lbs. My house has never been so clean.
We rounded out our Saturday with our first batch of chili for the season (recipe here) and a Sooner win!
Can we please talk about that game for a second?! My heart can’t handle games like that. There was a lot of yelling (in both frustration and excitement), high-fiving, and jumping up and down happening at the Bridgforth house. We beat the Vols 31-24 in double overtime. I am so excited we got a good win on the road! Just what the Sooners needed.
Sunday was another wake up call at 8:00 a.m., I could get used to this…
We did some more house projects – painted trim around the new windows, fixed the guttering on the front of the house, painted new siding we installed a month ago, spread new mulch in the flower beds, and did the weekly lawn mowing, grocery shopping and meal prepping.
We had a productive weekend but still found time for naps, movie watching (3 to be exact), easy runs, and recipe testing. I made another batch of peanut butter cups…recipe coming soon!
With another round of busy weekends coming up, I’m so thankful we had a chance to re-group, re-charge, and cross a few things off our list.
Hope you all had a happy weekend!
