To say we had a great weekend would be a serious understatement. It was The Carnivore’s birthday! Our weekend was full of sun, sunscreen, friends, great food, chlorinated water, and sweet treats.
All along The Carnivore had told me he didn’t want to do anything for his birthday. Because we’ve been gone nearly every weekend, he just wanted to spend a weekend at home. Fine by me! We invited our sisters to get some pool time in, but other than that, we were just going to hang at home.
We jam-packed the weekend with all of The Carnivore’s favorite things. Meat and sweets, sweets and meat, those are The Carnivore’s favorite things. We kicked off our weekend with a trip to Hurt’s Donuts.
We all decided The Jesus donut was the clear winner… like it was even a question. If you name a donut after Jesus it better be good. We ate Rudy’s BBQ, watched movies, grilled steaks, ate too much buttermilk pie from Pie Junkie, lounged in the pool, grilled burgers, and shared a cookie cake from Cookies ‘n’ Cards with friends. We obviously didn’t go hungry.
On Friday, The Carnivore decided we should casually mention to a couple of friends that if they wanted to come lounge with us on Sunday, they were more than welcome. Our party of 4, quickly turned to a party of 15. It was so much fun to have some of our nearest and dearest come help us celebrate Chase.
Besides The Carnivore, of course, let’s talk about the star of the pool party. Our new giant flamingo!
I ordered the flamingo without telling Chase. He was not impressed when he saw the box on our front porch. Oops! I tried to tell him I ordered it for his pool party… he still wasn’t buying it. When we put it in the pool and he saw how much fun everyone was having on it (and the size!), he decided it was pretty cool. However, he did continue to remind me that he would’ve preferred a Mallard or a Canadian goose to the giant pink bird. Whatever, I’ll take it as a win!
Money well spent. Everyone enjoyed the giant flamingo. Getchu one here!
We had so much fun lounging, swimming, grilling, and celebrating!
Such a perfect way to celebrate my guy. A relaxing weekend with his favorite people, favorite foods, and his new favorite giant flamingo.
Happy Birthday, sweet husband. I am so thankful you’re mine.
