To say we had a productive weekend is an understatement. I don’t know if it was the warm weather, the promise of sugar cookies, or bribing The Carnivore with a new workbench, but we crossed off some serious things on our to-do list.
We have this spare bedroom that is kinda like our junk drawer. You know the one. It used to be the cake room, and still holds some cake-making supplies, but hasn’t been used in months. Recently it’s been used as kitchen storage. As we’ve updated the kitchen, we’ve moved dishes, furniture, and small appliances to and from that room. It’s been getting a little out of control lately. I cringe every time I walk by and to make it even worse…remember my purge a few weeks ago? Well I made a Goodwill pile in that spare bedroom but hadn’t actually taken anything to Goodwill.
On Saturday morning I woke up intending to tackle this room; and tackle it I did. By 8:00 a.m. I had all the Goodwill stuff in bags ready to go and had completely cleaned out/thrown out cake supplies and “junk.” I feel like I shed 15 lbs. Ahh!!
On Saturday we dropped off our items at Goodwill, went to a lumber store to pick out boards to make shelves for the kitchen, framed art and pictures to be used as a gallery wall, made sugar cookies, set up The Carnivore’s new workbench, went to a Yoga Teacher Training Reunion, and went to watch a band play for a friend’s birthday.
Sunday was sanding and staining the boards we purchased, cleaning the house, lunch with a friend, this Burpee/Squat Burnout workout (below), teaching Yoga for Athletic Recovery, and the premiere of Better Call Saul.
On Sundays before my Yoga for Athletic Recovery class, I like to get to the gym about 30 minutes early to do a quick, sweaty workout before I teach. I knew I wanted to squat (squats are my favorite!), but also wanted to get in some cardio. Here’s what I came up with:
This workout took me about 20 minutes to complete, and that’s including the time to switch out my weights on the squat rack. It worked perfectly because the weight changing was my rest period.
And this was the aftermath…
Here’s to a new week. Happy Monday, y’all!
